Monday morning (December 27, 2021) in the premises of the Žilina 5th Special Forces Regiment (5th SFR) near the Memorial to the Soldiers of the Special Operations Forces was dedicated to the memory of our two colleagues - Captain in memoriam Edmund Makovník and Sergeant Major in memoriam Patrik Fraštia.

     In a gloomy atmosphere, came to honor the memory of their colleagues, but especially friends, the acting Commander of the 5th Special Forces Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Miroslav Modrocký, the former Commander, Colonel Pavol Šebík, the Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Forces (SOF), Colonel Pavel Švelka, the commanding non-commissioned officers of the SOFCOM and 5th SFR - Martin Boháčik and Staff Sergeant Major Radoslav Žitník, other "specialists" ...

     Time passes quickly and gradually erases the traces of sadness, but in the faces of the tough guys standing around, masked sadness and non-carelessness to what happened eight years ago can be read. Each of us is aware of the danger and difficulty of being a "special" soldier, but if a tragedy comes unexpectedly and without preparation, it hurts all the more.

     Edo and Paťo, together with their American colleague Captain David Lyon, died on Friday, December 27, 2013 in Afghanistan while performing tasks in the ISAF operation.
