On Friday, August 25, 2023, the Commander of the 5th Special Forces Regiment, Colonel Peter Žochňák, commemorated the 79th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising and the memory of French soldiers who fought and died in Slovakia during the Second World War by laying a wreath at the Memorial of French Partisans.
     The regional commemoration occasion was attended by the Ambassador of the French Republic to Slovakia H.E. Pascal Le Deunff, press attaché of the Embassy of the French Republic in Slovakia Didier Rogasik and representatives of local governments. The event took place near the village of Strečno, on the hill Zvonica, where the Monument of the French Partisans is built.
