During his official trip, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Igor Melicher visited the 5th Special Forces Regiment (5th SFR) in Žilina on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
     In the Hall of Honor and Glory, the State Secretary was welcomed by the highest representatives of the Special Operations Forces Command and the 5th SFR. The presentation provided a detailed overview of the history of the Special Operations Forces, the regiment, other subordinate units, as well as information about personnel, equipment, weaponry, and the main tasks of the regiment.
     State Secretary Igor Melicher emphasized the exceptional contribution of Special Forces to the Armed Forces, highlighting their necessity both domestically and internationally. He recalled their active involvement in addressing various challenging situations, including those not publicly disclosed.
     In addition to the visit to the Hall of Honor and Glory, the State Secretary also toured the regiment's facilities, the small arms shooting range, and paid respects to fallen soldiers at the Memorial of the Soldiers of the Special Operations Forces. His visit continued with a stop at the regiment's club, providing an opportunity for better interaction with the members and a deeper understanding of their environment.
