The 5th Special Operations Regiment became the venue for the military council of the Chief Noncommissioned Officer of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic (AF SR), Staff Sergeant Major Marcel Kaniak, on 18 and 19 July 2024. In the presence of more than two dozen commanding NCOs of the Slovak Armed Forces, he opened the meeting with the words, "Today is my last meeting with you in my role here." The Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces, General Daniel Zmeko, appointed Chief Master Sergeant Major Marcel Kaniak to the position of course director of the US Joint Special Operations University in Tampa on 1 August 2024 by a personnel order.
      Right at the beginning, he introduced his successor, whom the Chief of the General Staff presented on Wednesday, 17 July, at the premises of the Club of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic. He is Staff Sergeant Major Imrich Fekete, who will take over the notional Special Forces baton in this post from 1 August 2024.
